Abstracts
Upon entering the year 2026, inspired by the colors of the winter landscape, I began exploring abstract painting.
Simplifying the landscape by using memory and intuition to get to the heart of a place,
I am learning to express myself more freely.
Land and Sky - View Collection
Being out in nature is where I find beauty, peace, and healing for my soul. As a child I loved to lay down in an open area to watch the clouds pass over me. I still love to watch and paint clouds. When I am out in nature I engage all my senses, pausing to hear the birds or the rustle of leaves, to feel the texture of the bark on trees, to smell the flowers and mosses, to taste the wild berries or a snow flake on my tongue, and of course, what I see and feel I try to capture onto paper or canvas.
31 in 31 Days October Prompt Driven Challenge
Gail Sibley's prompt driven challenge to paint daily in the month of October. Each day she gives a prompt and artists are encouraged to follow the theme she has given.
Streams, Lakes, Coastal Waters - View Collection
Water inspires me - the peaceful, quiet scenes of the lakes, streams, and ponds , and the power of the ocean waves and waterfalls.
Floral - View Collection
Flowers in all shapes, sizes, and colors, are simply beautiful and beg to be painted. The soft intricacy of flower petals is a challenge to capture. When I smell an iris I am immediately transported back to childhood where my mother had a huge bed of purple irises. And the smell of lilacs takes me back to another time and place, as well.
